Migraine Treatment in Soho, Central London
Migraine Treatment at Elevate Clinic, Central London:
Not every migraine has the same cause.
That’s one of the biggest reasons migraines can feel so frustrating.
Two people can both be told they have migraines…
Yet their triggers, symptoms and recovery can look completely different.
Some people notice stress brings them on.
Others notice hormonal changes.
Certain foods.
Poor sleep.
Bright lights.
Long days at a computer.
Or neck pain that gradually builds into a migraine.
Our first job isn’t to tell you we can fix every migraine.
It’s to work out whether your migraines are being driven by factors we can genuinely help with.
That’s where we begin.
Let’s figure out what’s actually going on.
Then we’ll build the best plan for you.
Does this sound familiar?
People who come to us with migraines often tell us:
My headaches always seem to start in my neck.
Stress makes them much more frequent.
I spend all day at a desk before they begin.
My shoulders become tight first.
I notice warning signs before the migraine develops.
I know my posture isn’t helping.
They seem to come in clusters during busy periods.
I’ve tried lots of different treatments without understanding why they’re happening.
Those patterns are important.
Because migraines are rarely random.
They usually have triggers.
Finding those triggers is often the most valuable part of the consultation.
This is a conversation we have almost every week…
Patient:
“I’ve had migraines for years.
Sometimes I can go months without one.
Then suddenly I have three in two weeks.
I can’t work out why.”
That’s where we start asking questions.
When do they happen?
What changed beforehand?
How’s your stress been?
How are you sleeping?
Do they begin with neck pain?
Do they always happen around the same point in your monthly cycle?
Have you noticed any food triggers?
The answers help us build a picture.
Not because there’s always one trigger.
But because there are often several contributing factors acting together.
Not every migraine is one we should treat.
This is one of the most important things we explain.
Migraines exist on a very broad spectrum.
Some are strongly influenced by musculoskeletal problems.
Some have significant hormonal triggers.
Some are primarily neurological.
Some are vestibular.
Some require specialist medical management.
If we believe your migraines are being driven by neck dysfunction, muscle tension, posture or stress-related musculoskeletal factors, there’s often a great deal we can do.
If we don’t think that’s the case, we’ll tell you.
And if we think medication or another specialist would be more appropriate, we’ll help point you in the right direction.
Good healthcare isn’t about trying to treat everyone.
It’s about recognising who you’re most likely to help.
If we’re not measuring it, we’re guessing.
Migraines aren’t measured by shoulder strength or force plates.
They’re measured by patterns.
During your assessment at our Soho clinic, we’ll look at key markers:
How often your migraines occur.
How long they last.
What usually triggers them.
Whether there are warning signs (such as aura) beforehand.
How much they interfere with work, family life or exercise.
Whether neck movement reproduces symptoms.
Whether muscle tension appears to be contributing.
Sometimes we’ll also ask you to keep a migraine diary.
Not because we’re asking you to do homework.
But because patterns that are impossible to see over a single day often become obvious over several weeks.
Every piece of information helps us understand what’s driving your migraines.
Because if we’re not measuring the pattern…
We’re guessing.
Treatment is about reducing your triggers.
If your migraines have a musculoskeletal component, treatment may include chiropractic care, manual therapy, massage, dry needling or exercises to improve the way your neck and upper back cope with everyday life.
We’ll also talk about the factors that often influence migraine frequency.
Stress.
Sleep.
Recovery.
Exercise.
Work habits.
Sometimes nutrition.
The goal isn’t simply to help today’s migraine.
It’s to reduce the number of migraines you’re experiencing over the coming months.
For many people, success isn’t never having another migraine.
Success is having fewer of them.
Recovering more quickly.
Feeling more in control.
Recovery is about changing the pattern.
One of the biggest shifts we try to make is moving away from asking:
“Did I get a migraine this week?”
Instead we ask:
How often are they happening?
Are they less intense?
Do they settle more quickly?
Are you functioning better when they do occur?
Those changes often happen before migraines disappear completely.
They’re signs that you’re moving in the right direction.
What if nothing changes?
Not every migraine responds to musculoskeletal treatment.
And that’s okay.
If you’re not following the pattern we’d expect, we’ll reassess.
Do we still think your migraines are being driven by your neck?
Is there another trigger we’re missing?
Would another healthcare professional be better placed to help?
Would medication be appropriate?
Our goal is never to keep treating you simply for the sake of it.
It’s to make sure you’re getting the care that’s most likely to improve your quality of life.
Elevate founder Jon Cairns
We’ll work through this together.
Migraines can feel unpredictable.
Part of our job is helping make them feel a little less mysterious.
We’ll explain what we think is contributing.
We’ll explain why we’re recommending a particular treatment.
We’ll monitor how the pattern changes over time.
And if something isn’t working, we’ll say so.
The best outcomes come from understanding your own triggers and building a plan together.
We’ll bring the clinical knowledge.
You’ll bring the feedback.
Together we’ll work towards giving you more control over your migraines.
FAQs
Can chiropractic treatment cure migraines?
Migraines are a complex neurological condition, and there isn’t a single treatment that works for everyone. If your migraines have a musculoskeletal component, treatment may help reduce their frequency or severity, but we’ll always be honest about what we think is realistic in your situation.
How do I know if my neck is contributing?
Many people notice that neck stiffness, muscle tension or headaches build before a migraine develops. Your assessment helps us understand whether those factors are playing a significant role.
Should I keep a migraine diary?
Often, yes. Tracking your symptoms, triggers and recovery can reveal patterns that aren’t obvious day to day and helps us measure whether treatment is making a meaningful difference.
How many treatments will I need?
We’ll normally know within the first few appointments whether your migraines are responding in the way we’d expect. If they are, we’ll continue building on that progress. If they’re not, we’ll discuss whether another approach is likely to be more appropriate.
